Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Going green or just going with the economy? Either way it’s a good Mantra.
Eco-greenies have been telling us this for years and finally the Fashion- Fab are beginning to listen.
Affordable Luxury. With the recent economic crisis the Fashion Industry has been in a tailspin. Many Designers have launched second more affordable lines. Anna Sui’s line recently debued at Target. H&M has limited runs by Designers such as Roberto Cavalli. Vera Wang has the Simply Vera line at Kohls.
What this tells us is: People want to look good but still be able to afford it!
Here are some tips to help make your closet more “sustainable” and give your wallet a break.
REDUCE
Its time to clean out the closet. Keep items that are timeless, classic and well constructed. Keep items that are current. Toss the rest into a bag! If it’s too big or too small it isn’t doing you any good!
REUSE
Now that you have trimmed out some of the bulk examine the pieces you have. Combine them in new ways. Take a hem up or let a hem down. Combine patterns in an unexpected way. Check your shoes and handbags a few small repairs could make them new again! Shoe Lab (a repair shop in Boca Park) can do some amazing things. (shoe Lab 8700 W. Charleston Blvd. #101 Las Vegas, NV 702.870.7463).
RECYCLE
Take all the items you bagged up to Buffalo Exchange and sell them. Whatever they don’t take drop off at a charity.(Buffalo Exchange 4110 S. Maryland Pkwy. #1 Las Vegas, NV 702.791.3960)
Whether your motive be economic or ecological the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Mantra adds a little clarity and a little green to your closet.
