Easter Sunday is just 10 days away and all I can dream about are soft fluffy bunnies!
According to The History Channel: The first Easter Bunny legend was documented in the 1500s. By 1680, the first story about a rabbit laying eggs and hiding them in a garden was published. These legends were brought to the United States in the 1700s, when German immigrants settled in Pennsylvania Dutch country, known then as the “Oschter Haws”. Their children made nests in which the Oschter Haws could lay its colored eggs. Eventually, the custom spread across the U.S. and the fabled rabbit’s Easter morning deliveries expanded to include chocolate and other types of candy and gifts, while decorated baskets replaced nests. Additionally, children often left out carrots for the bunny in case he got hungry from all his hopping.
…..and so the Easter Bunny was born!
