Poolside Problem Solutions

Pool season has officially begun here in Las Vegas!  I can hear the day-club music pumping and the smell of tanning oil is in the air!

Although you may still be awaiting the arrival of swim worthy weather in your state, it’s never too early to arm yourself with some poolside problem solutions.

Two of the biggest problems that can harsh your swim buzz are dripping wet swimsuits and chlorine irritating your skin and damaging your hair.

Don’t worry, I’m here to give you a double dose of problem solving this week!

PROBLEM #1: Stylist’s Secret Trick for Dripping Wet Swimsuits.

Once the swimming is over- whether you are at the beach or a pool- the next step is usually to change out of the wet swimwear and into dry clothing but what do you do with that dripping wet bikini?  You try wringing it out but it’s still dripping everywhere and putting that $200 bikini in a plastic bag just seems wrong.

I’m going to share with you a closely guarded secret stylist tip to solve this problem. Have you ever been to a SPA or a private beach where they had swimwear dryers in the bathrooms?  A salad spinner does EXACTLY the same thing!

On set we shoot 10-15 swimsuits pretty quickly and once they are wet even in optimal conditions they can take forever to dry.  I keep a salad spinner in my kit for these occasions.  It helps remove all the excess water and leaves you with a damp bikini that dries out pretty quickly!

Just place your sopping wet swimwear in the spinner.

Give it a spin…….

and voila!

Just like it does with lettuce, all the excess water has been separated from the fabric. Now your swimsuit is just damp as opposed to a drippy mess and will dry out super-quick.  This works with any type of manual salad spinner.  I use a large one so that I can fit one-piece styles and mens trunks in it as well.

Now for problem #2: Chlorine on skin and hair.
