Spring Highlights

When you hear anyone talk about Spring beauty trends the words “dewy” and “glow” are going to come up.

The Spring Glow or dewy fresh-face effect is a must-have for the season but can be difficult to achieve.  Dewy skin does not mean greasy skin or glitterfied/sparkly skin. It’s all about keeping those highlights pretty and well-placed.

Your whole face shouldn’t be dewy- we aren’t going for an “I’ve been out all day jogging in humidity” look. You need to place sheen and shimmer strategically in the areas you want your face to reflect light. Add a soft and subtle highlight along the bridge of your nose and your cheekbones while keeping your jawline and the sides of your nose more matte so you don’t look greasy.

I have two favorite highlighting products I’m using this season: Napoleon Perdis Light Switch Luminizer Palette and Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight.

Napoleon Perdis Light Switch Luminizer Palette contains five easy to blend shades of light reflecting cream (gold, silver, bronze, pink ice and rose).  Use gold, silver, pink ice and rose to highlight and the bronze shade to contour.   Each shade also contains nourishing Candelilla Wax, Aloe Vera, and Vitamins A and E, and let me tell you the product feels AMAZING to apply.  It glides on effortlessly.

One of my favorite spots to highlight is the inner corner of the eye the silver shade is PERFECT for this- it instantly gives a wide awake fresh face look.  I am OBSESSED with the rose shade on the apple of my cheeks.  It brightens the entire face up!

Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight is a ridiculously easy to apply cream highlight even for the makeup-challenged.

It comes in a stick form that you just “draw” onto the upper area of your cheek and then gently blend with your finger creating a very natural glow, so it’s perfect if you want something subtle and quick to use.  Great for tossing in your handbag for on the go highlights!

Napoleon Perdis Light Switch Luminizer Palette and Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight are both available at Neiman Marcus and NeimanMarcus.com.
