This past weekend I styled AND sat on the panel for Neiman Marcus’ Fall Trend Report Fashion Show.

For those of you that may have missed it- or for those that would like to see it again here is a recap:

The show focused on four of the season’s top trends: Ripe Berry Shades, Fall Florals, Bomber Jackets and Velvet.

First a peek behind the scenes….

Now let’s get the show started….First up Ripe Berry Shades.

I talk quite a bit about giving your look depth and these first two Ripe Berry looks are a prime example.

You can easily create depth with tone-on-tone looks by incorporating texture and mixing fabrics.

Knit, satin, lace, fur….anything goes!  It’s all about delivering multiple levels to your look.

The Ripe Berry Trend pairs perfectly with traditional fall colors like brown, mustard and caramel.

Stylist Tip: Use a brooch to secure your wrap in place.  It allows you to be hands free and creates a dramatic silhouette.

We first saw Fall Florals in Fall 2015 when designers decided to flip the script on what was once traditionally a Spring trend.  For Fall 2016 Fall Florals are back and better than ever.

What exactly are Fall Florals?  Simply put they are floral prints that land on the darker side of the spectrum.  A little edgy, a little romantic and oh so wearable.

Dress them up or down.  Let your Fall Florals stand alone or pair with sleek leather pieces, suede, military inspired designs and colorful furs (real or faux).

Stylist Tip: Use a blanket coat wrapped over a lightweight suede or leather jacket like I did above for a rugged boho look this season.

Bomber Jackets are EVERYTHING this season.  From designer to trend everyone has thrown their hat into the bomber jacket ring.

This super versatile Fall essential is equally great for day or night. Use them as a focal point, topper or as a layering piece like I did with the olive bomber under the mustard topcoat.

Stylist Tip: Up your styling cool factor by using a brooch to personalize a knit hat this season.

The show’s Finale….Velvet. Oh how I love you.  That fabric that just screams out to be touched!  This season you can incorporate velvet with handbags, shoes, boots, dresses, jackets, pants or blouses…Velvet EVERYTHING!

Stylists Tip: Nothing ruins the look of a stunning velvet piece faster than a crease that flattens the pile.  To keep your velvet pieces crease free make sure not to fold when storing it. Always hang velvet on padded hangers. NO WIRE HANGERS!!!  In the event you do get a crease use a steamer on the inside of the piece to raise the nap.
