Today I’m serving up another reason to LOVE pineapples.
Did you know that you can use a pineapple to exfoliate?
Seriously, you can- and it works!
Pineapples contain the enzyme Bromelain which breaks down protein and fights the damage done to your skin by free radicals- that combined with the pineapple’s alpha-hydroxy fruit acid and power-packed amount to Vitamin C gently exfoliates the top layer of dead skin cells by penetrating through the skin which increases the rate of new cell regeneration and collagen formation.
The “mask” exfoliates the dead skin from your face without the use of abrasive ingredients, leaving your face fresh and glowing.
This treatment hinges on the live enzymes so the pineapple has to be fresh, canned pineapple won’t work.
- Clean your face and neck- remove all makeup.
- Take a small piece of fresh pineapple and rub all over your face, avoiding the eye area. Make sure you completely cover the face with the juice.
- Wait 5-10 minutes until the mask dries.
- Rinse face thoroughly
- Follow with a moisturizer
You can use this treatment on your entire body or spot treat areas. It is great for sensitive skin, dehydrated skin and is also known to reduce age spots and fine lines.
