In the super-hero universe I have always embraced the quirkier less-than-perfect characters.
To give you an idea Guardians of the Galaxy is my top rated. I love a good tongue in cheek pun, a smart-mouthed comment and witty humor- the character trying to do good even though they have a spotty past and a uncontrollable urge to talk back.
Ant Man is just such a film.
The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man.” Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
Marvel’s “Ant-Man” stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang aka Ant-Man, Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne, Corey Stoll as Darren Cross aka Yellowjacket, Bobby Cannavale as Paxton, Michael Peña as Luis, Tip “T.I.” Harris as Dave, Wood Harris as Gale, Judy Greer as Maggie, David Dastmalchian as Kurt, and Michael Douglas as Dr. Hank Pym. Directed by Peyton Reed and produced by Kevin Feige, p.g.a.
With several Avengers references, plenty of easter eggs and even an Avenger cameo Ant Man delivers everything a Marvel fan could ask for PLUS it is a much needed break from the stereotypical squeaky clean super hero.
It’s weird enough to be utterly fantastic for those looking for a different kind of hero and action filled enough to appeal to mainstream fans.
Ant Man opens Nationwide July 17
