Chic Chapeau

Hats are everywhere this season!  Hand’s down they are the “IT” accessory for fall.  From wide brim and fedora to fur and cloche’s, hats this season are anything but boring.

Here’s a look at this season’s hottest shapes and styles for hats.

Wide brimmed: Usually made of felt or wool, can have flat or high crowns. They  add mystery and drama to your look.  Great with Bohemian styles.

Fedora: A low soft felt hat with a curled brim and crown creased lengthwise.  Fedora hats are probably the most versatile  hat style.  Almost anyone can wear one whether it be for a casual or dressy look.

Trapper/Flap: lined with fur (real or faux) and have flaps that hang over the ears.  Not just for Elmer Fudd chic trapper hats in shearling, fur, leather, tweed and suede have made a showing on runways from Paris to New York.

Cloche: a tight fitting hat that goes over the forhead.  First made popular in 1920′s they conjure up images of “Boardwalk Empire”, Clara Bow, Joan Crawford and Josephine Baker.

With the recent season premier of HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, I am obsessed with cloche’s.

They make me want to put on some Jazz music, don a flapper dress and call everyone “doll”….oh and sneak my alcohol like its prohibition.

Nothing says style like a 3/4 textured coat, a top handled bag and a cloche.

One of my favorite Milliners D&Y has created a fashion forward array of cloche hats in a stunning  range of colors and styles accented with bows, knots, grosgain bands and florals, these hats easily go from day to evening without skipping a beat.

  1. First!
Cool hats Christie! I wish more women would sport the retro look of these hats. I personally would wear the “whimsical” trapper hat. 🙂 hehehe.

  2. Love the hats, although those Anna Sui’s are bordering on the “Furry” cosplay crowd. Kinda scares me a little… not that i have anything against Furry’s, but i think they must have sex in those costumes.

  3. I would so sport the red one with the bow! I love the bow action! I think it would be a great addition to my winter collection! I would feel pretty in that hat!
