Choosing the Right Tweezer

I have an exciting announcement: I am now a Tweezerman Ambassador!

Tweezerman is known for the outstanding quality, lasting durability and performance of their products, not to mention those cute designer collaborations!

I have been using Tweezerman ever since I first learned to pluck so I can’t wait to share with you all of their amazing products!

To kick things off I thought it appropriate to start with what else but the tweezer basics.

If there is one Universal beauty tool that EVERYONE owns it is the tweezer.

Tweezers come in many types, shapes, styles, and sizes from basic stainless steel and decorative enamel finishes all the way to Swarovski bedazzled.

A good tweezer will help you remove hair quickly, precisely and painlessly without any damage to your skin.

But what exactly makes a “good” pair of tweezers?

Well, it begins with the tip.  It is the most important part of the tweezer and usually comes in three basic styles: slanted, pointed and square.

If you have been using the square medical tweezers that came in your home first-aid kit to tame your brows- please throw them away now and lets never talk of it again.

Slanted Tip Tweezers are THE eyebrow shaping tweezer , the sharply angled head enables you to hold the tweezers flat against your face so you can see which hairs you’re plucking.

Pointed tweezers are better for fine, stubby, stray and ingrown hairs because the ultrafine tips easily locate and lift the hair.

The next important step in choosing the right tweezer is the material.

You should NEVER buy a Tweezer that isn’t made of 100% stainless steel or hard coated PVD Titanium Nitrate like the Tweezerman Pro Series Ultra Precision tweezers.  These materials, besides being ultra-durable can also protect your skin from any contamination and will not rust. Titanium is the new vogue in beauty tools- it is incredibly corrosion resistant, reduces friction to increase the usable life of the tool, and makes gliding ergonomics easier for smooth, super-precise performance.

Ok so now you have the right shape and material its time to choose a finish.

There are thousands of different finishes and choosing one really depends on your own personal style.  Whether you want a decorative enamel coated pair, a bedazzled blingy crystal pair or sleek metallic ones its really all up to you!

To keep your tweezers working well, and to avoid bacterial build up on them, clean your tweezers after each use. Use  isopropyl alcohol on a cotton ball or single-use alcohol wipes to clean the tip.

BONUS: Tweezerman offers free sharpening on all of their tools!  All you’ve got to do is fill out a Tweezerman Sharpening Tracker Form Online, package them up and mail them in.  Within 4-6 weeks, you’ll receive your tools back in mint condition. Tweezerman charges no fees, and pays for the return shipping, but in the event that the tweezers are too damaged to be fixed, they will either repair it for $5 and send you an invoice, or send you a coupon for 1/2 off to buy a new pair. Pretty sweet deal, right?
