Gucci recently launch their first ever cosmetics line.
I have been waiting months for this to launch, first hearing whispers about the line last year and counting the days until I got these to-die-for products into my beauty junkie hands!
Gucci’s creative director, Frida Giannini, worked with legendary makeup artist and P&G’s Global Creative Design Director, Pat McGrath, to bring the collection to life. Giannini began by raiding 90 years of Gucci archives and brought fabric samples to McGrath. They identified the colors the brand is calling the “Iconic Six”: gold, black, red, ottanio (a peacock-teal blue), bronze and copper, which anchor the 200+-piece collection.
The goal was to create timeless products that deliver a pro-quality finish. Products that would be equally at home in a professional makeup-artists kit as well as in our everyday routines.
My friends at Neiman Marcus sent me the Iconic Red Bold High Gloss Nail Lacquer, Opulent Volume Mascara and Power Liquid Liner in Iconic Black to test drive. I am wearing all of them in the photo at the top of this post and my lashes look Ah-mazing!
The packaging is luxe and gorgeous- as one would expect from Gucci- sleek black ultra-gloss embossed with the iconic Gucci double G branding. Can you say Glam?
I’m not a big red nail wearer (I usually err on the side of gray and black) but this really is THE perfect red. Timeless, Classic and well like the name says…iconic! The lacquer is applied with a triangular-shaped brush which ensures the smoothest, most-even coverage you’ll get without going to the salon. A super easy application for those of us that aren’t so skilled at doing our own nails! I have been wearing it for about 4 days now with no chipping and it looks as shiny as the day I applied it! Luxe and gorgeous, people keep asking me if its a gel because it looks so perfect!
The secret to the Opulent Volume Mascara is in the design of its sleek wand which allows a perfect application all the way to the lash line. The wands bristles go from thick to thin which helps to separate lashes, build volume and lengthen when applying. The formula wears well with no flaking and delivers a rich black color to the lashes. I give it an A+
The Liquid Liner glides on smoothly with a fine felt tip applicator which allows you create precise lines. Perfect for anyone that loves a Cat Eye or Bat Wing (me). It also remains a true black when you apply. The color holds and stays put all day long. Love it.
