Blanket Scarves, over-sized square scarves, are one of my favorite trends this season.
Functional, versatile and super stylish they make for the perfect fall/winter accessory. Plus how could you not feel cozy in something that contains the word “Blanket”.
Upon first glance they can be a bit intimidating. I mean what exactly should one do with all that fabric?
Well, the trick to wearing a blanket scarf is all in the folding- and I’m going to break it down for you, with three variations, using this fall-tastic plaid David & Young blanket scarf.
The Loose Handkerchief.
Step 1- begin with the blanket scarf unfolded.
Step 2- Fold the scarf in half diagonally to create a triangle.
Step 3- grab two or three handfuls from the top so that your fingers are pinching the sides with about 8-9 inches of the corners hanging down.
Step 4: with the Triangle in front wrap the ends around the back of your neck and then let them hang on each side of the triangle.
Front Tie Handkerchief
Follow steps 1-4 above then
Step 5- grab the two loose ends
Step 6- tie them in front of the triangle and zhoosh until the folds are laying the way you want.
Hidden Tie Handkerchief
Follow steps 1-4 above then
Step 5B- grab the loose ends
Step 6B- tie them underneath the triangle and zhoosh until the folds are laying the way you want.
