Last week I shared that when I first heard of the tie-dye trend I made a “yuck” face but then I saw how refined and beautiful the “new tie-dye” really is. Well, my reaction was similar when I first got word of the latest animal print trend: Snakeskin Prints.
Instead of a “yuck” face I made an “ewe gross” face. I hate snakes. HATE THEM. HATE THEM. HATE THEM. So the thought of wrapping my body up in a snake print- especially one with a snake texture- gave me the major hebbie jeebies, but (just like with tie-dye) once I settled down and watched the Spring 2019 runway shows I gained a whole new appreciation for this cold-blooded, slithery print.
From Gucci’s uber chic wide leg snakeskin trousers and Philosophy’s dreamy ruffle-collared reptile-print tops to Saint Laurent’s slouchy snakeskin print boots and Off White’s statement making neon snake print dresses, there really is something seriously sophisticated about this serpentine pattern which makes it a great addition to your spring wardrobe and here’s why…….
Brown, rust, white, grey and cream are definitely trending when it comes to the Spring 2019 color palette and a typical snakeskin print is a mix of greys or browns, meaning it’ll pretty much go with anything else you might be wearing. It’s also a stylish yet efficient way to break up a solid neutral outfit PLUS it’s an incredibly chic print that instantly elevates or dresses up any look- just ask Roberto Cavalli he’s famous for it.
Snake prints also work in a variety of mediums, meaning you can seamlessly incorporate them into a look as a dress, top, bottom, shoe, or general accessory. Needless to say, snakeskin is oh-so-versatile.
While you can easily go head-to-toe with the print, my favorite way to rock the trend is with a hint of snakeskin, a soft whisper. Think printed belts, crossbody bags or a flash of snake-print boots under a dress or paired with cropped jeans.
What do you think? Will you slither into a snakeskin print this season?

I see snake print everywhere but I don’t like it. I actually prefer leopard print. your dress looks amazing .
I love me a good leopard print but snake is a great way to mix things up for Spring- especially against the new cream, beige and white trend.
