I love fragrances.  Home fragrances, colognes, perfumes, scented lotions, bath potions and even car fragrances.  I have become somewhat of an amateur olfactory connoisseur- able to sniff out exactly  what blend you are wearing or displaying in your home.

So I thought I would start a new series that features a Fragrance of the month.

Fragrances create an inviting, comforting and calming environment.

My fragrance preferences change with the seasons.  The goal is to capture the natural smells of the seasons in a simple and minimal way.  Nothing overwhelming- no one wants to be slapped across the face with a scent.  Scents should gently entice.

For Fall I wrap myself in masculine scents like wood and leather, and the smells of seasonal fruits,vegetables and spices such as pumpkin, apple, pear, cinnamon, clove and squash.  For Summer my preferences tiptoe between tropical fragrances like coconut, almond and mango to sweet girly countryside scents of lemongrass, vanilla, cotton candy and fresh fruits like cherry, melons and peaches.

July makes me think of the outdoors.  Picnics, small towns, farm country, pies and simple elegance.

My July Scent of the Month is a home fragrance, a delicious scented candle from NEST Fragrances: Lemongrass & Ginger.
