Lumber Jack Chic

One thing I truly love about fashion is that it always seems to keep surprising me!

The “it” trend of this winter is definitely the last thing I would have predicted: Lumber Jack Chic.  Plaid button-ups, Over-sized Buffalo checked shirts, hiking boots, denim, all forms of flannels and even trapper hats are the “it” look of choice this season.  In fact this trend is soooo hot that L.L.Bean, the 102-year-old boot-maker based in Freeport, Maine, has seen such a surge in demand for its iconic “Bean” boot, that it’s had to double its manufacturing capacity to try to keep up. The company has also added a third shift to its production schedule and increased its number of boot-makers by 55 percent, hiring an additional 100 people at its Brunswick, Maine, facility to produce the boots.

Even still, some versions of the boot, which start at $109, are back ordered until April!

I suspect this wood-chopping fashion inspiration began a couple seasons ago when beards became the mens accessory of choice.  It was only a matter of time that the lumberjack ensemble followed, think Paul Bunion meets Kurt Cobain.  1 part grunge, 1 part Twin Peaks and 1 part Ax Men.

I poured through the shops and the web to deliver you a curated collection of my favorite Lumber Jack Chic pieces that will have you looking outdoorsy cozy all season.
