Cute, seasonal outfits don’t have to break the bank.
One of the biggest questions I get from readers is how can I afford to keep up with OOTD posts each week. The answer is I’m great at budgeting. I thrift, buy vintage, consignment, outlet shop and score deals at spots like TJ Maxx and Marshalls. I rarely pay full retail for a piece unless it’s an investment piece that will last me for years to come and when I’m done with a trend piece I either sell it at Buffalo Exchange or (if it’s designer) I consign it at TheRealReal.com
So that’s my secret. It’s pretty simple. Look for the best quality at the best price that hits the current or upcoming trends.
I know some of you out there are wondering “Where do I start”, so today I’m sharing FOUR ways you can update your summer style with HOT trends that won’t burn your budget.
ONE: Customized Denim- Look for great deals on denim and then DIY that hem. It’s all about the fit. I found these jeans for $11.99 at TJ Maxx. They were a cropped denim that was rolled at the bottom. Great fit but they looked a little basic so I took a seam ripper to the hem and set it free which gave them an instant fashion forward makeover. You can give the jeans you already have this same makeover to breath new life into them this season.
TWO: Oversized Blazers- they are the “it” of 2018. Pair EVERYTHING with a boxy blazer to immediately elevate your look from ordinary to oh-so-luxe. From flouncy dresses to overalls, rompers, shorts and tees a blazer makes every look so much more chic. You can score this tropical blazer for $24 at TJ Maxx! Also search for blazers in the mens section- you can often find AMAZING blazers at better-than-the-womens-department prices there! To level up on your styling game make sure to roll/scrunch the sleeves to the elbow.
THREE: Summer Worthy Bags- anything with a tropical print or bold color will have you winning at the bag game this season. Also bamboo handled bags or the queen of summer 2018 the string bag (you know the ones made for carrying your groceries). You can score a great string bag for as low as $6- I linked to some at the end of the post.
