3 Reasons to Carry a Dryer Sheet in Your Handbag

When it comes to softening clothes, removing static cling and delivering a fresh scent, it’s hard to beat the good old dryer sheet.

Introduced in the mid-’70s, they’re still working hard nearly 40 years later to give your fabrics wearable softness and fabulous fragrance. But did you know that dryer sheets can continue to be utterly magical problem solvers even out of the dryer?

Last week my assistant was grabbing a clip out of my set bag and spied my secret weapon (a dryer sheet) tucked in the side.  She asked me “Why is there a dryer sheet in here”?  Of course I got super excited, as I do every-time I get to share a fashion secret with someone and explained that dryer sheets are a simple easy fix to a wide range of fashion problems.

3 Reasons to Carry a Dryer Sheet in Your Handbag

I ALWAYS carry a dryer sheet in both my handbag and set-bag for fashion emergencies.  They take up hardly any space, pull through for you every single time AND they keep everything smelling AMAZING.

Here are 3 reasons why you should carry a dryer sheet in your handbag too:

ONE: Static Cling Out of the Dryer. Sometimes as we walk our bodies build up a static charge and clothing starts to cling. Just as they remove static when they tumble in your machine dryer sheets are equally as good a neutralizing it while you are wearing your clothes. With the swipe of a dryer sheet to the underside of the garment you can do away with clingy, static-ridden clothes in seconds.

TWO: For Your Hair.  We all get those crazy staticky flyaways.  Static + hair is never a good combination. To combat those tiny runaway strands, just run a dryer sheet over your locks.  Dryer sheets are formulated to stop static building up on your clothes as they move around the machine and have what’s known as a cationic electrical charge — a positive charge that neutralises static. Handily, this means if you rub a sheet lightly over your hair, it will make any fuzzy strands lie flat. Plus, they’ll make your hair smell nice and fresh.

THREE: Instant Lint/Pet Hair  Roller.  Forget your lint roller. Dryer sheets are great for doing away with unwanted pet hair and lint on clothing. Their rough texture and positive electrical charge create the ultimate de-linting tool.
