Fall 2019 has to be one of the most exciting fashion seasons we have seen in quite awhile.
Not only are the trends re-energizing my soul after a summer fashion season that left me feeling like “well I survived it”, they are also all so easily translatable from runway to reality- meaning you can ACTUALLY wear these trends!
One of my favorite Fall 2019 trends combines two parts of my fashion personality, my yin and yang, dark and romantic into one uber luxe trend: Dark Romance.
The Dark Romance trend takes motifs of unqualified femininity and gives them a sinister twist. It’s a perfect mashup of feminine and grunge elements. I’ve always been a fan of combining opposing style types into a single look, so I’m REALLY excited to have one more reason to pair something edgy with something sugary sweet.
Roses, lace, pouffy sleeves and ruffles are married with edgy leather, profuse panels of black velvet, fiery animal prints and sculptural armour-like shoulders. At Prada they went full horror film with Wednesday Addams braids and literal Frankenstein motifs alongside dainty cocktail dresses with wilted silk roses and Valentino debuted gowns donning red roses and lovelorn statues.
It really is a perfect study in contradictions.
So dig out those rose print high neck ruffle blouses you stored in the back of your closet, dust off that leather jacket, grab that gothic-esc lace skirt and some combat boots, slap on a dark vampy lip and give this trend a test-drive.
