How to Add Witchy Details to Your Look

Any kind of fashion that makes me feel all-in on a season is more than okay with me.

Admittedly, I’m one of those fashion folks who loves Fall, Halloween, and the many many variations of witchy style. So for October I want to channel some mystic witchy woman energy with a modern twist. It’s a little more American Horror Story Witch and alot less Wicked Witch of the West, not your basic witch.

This isn’t a Halloween costume, it’s a chic way to add a dash of the macabre into your everyday look.  Whether you be a good witch or bad witch is up to you.

Start by adding a FEW witchy details to your look. You’ll want to limit the amount of add-on’s to keep the look becoming too costume-y. A few key items and some subtle accessories can create a perfect low-key witchy vibe.

There are a few details that are traditionally associated with witches that you can work with. Black wide-brimmed hats,  all black/gray and/or traditional Halloween accent colors like orange, green, purple, or red. Old-timey details like square buckles (on shoes or otherwise), lace-up and/or pointed toe boots and spooky motifs like skulls, insects and spiders, spider webs and traditional creepy critters like black cats.

Witchy style is all about celebrating femininity so start with a dress or skirt and then add a few magical details in. Pieces that are aged/appear to be aged fit in nicely with this vibe. Think vintage silhouettes, textures and a variety of fabrics to create depth.

Whether you go bohemian, gothic, New England style or total kitsch with it, embrace all the quirks and soak up the season of the witch.
