Finally, it’s here! My favorite part of summer- insert the JAWS soundtrack..da-duh..da-duh..da-duh- Discovery Channel’s annual week long series SHARK WEEK!
Since 1987 Discovery Channel has been luring viewers in and catching their attention with entertaining and educational shark-tastic television programming.
This year Discovery Channel is bringing more teeth, more jaws and more heart-pounding TV specials featuring everyone’s favorite undersea predators than ever before.
Are you ready for this? Shark Week will be on for four hours a day (45 hours of programming), with TV episodes featuring celebrities like William Shatner, Tiffany Haddish, The cast of Jackass, Brad Paisley and more. They’ll be joined some of the top marine biologists from renowned science institutions as they explore the world of sharks. Discovery+ will also be airing the first Shark Week series, Sharks academy!
Highlights this year include the first in utero camera tag in a pregnant Tiger shark, a potentially new Great White mating behavior and the discovery of an elusive pupping ground.
Fans can also get in on the Shark Week fun on social media, where Discovery will be adding new AR filters for Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook, plus seven nights of livestreams on TikTok.
The TV event started yesterday and will continue all week until July 18.
