How to Add Street Style Edge to Your Look

Street-style is so haute.

Spring 2018 is all about adding that street-style edginess to your look. It’s about balancing the whimsy and femininity of the season with a gritty street-style vibe. A Yin with a Yang.

Think denim, bold color and of course patches paired with girly dresses in lace, floral prints and tropical motifs.

Patched denim jackets, dresses, shirts, heels, booties and bags are hotter than ever this season. From Cub Scout-esc merit badges at DSQUARED2 to disco musical note patched suits at Gucci designers sewed one (or two or three) on for the season!

You’ll find pieces patched up across the board for SS18 from designer to fast fashion and everything in between. The great thing about this trend is that its super DIY friendly!

The patch trend adds fuel to and further emphasizes fashion’s current love affair with personalization. Incorporating a few vintage patches onto a basic shirt or bag can not only transform it into something super chic and designer-esc, it also lets you infuse your personality into your clothing.

You can find “lots” of vintage patches on Ebay and on Amazon for pretty cheap- usually you can buy a dozen “surprise” pack for like $5. Retailers such as TOPSHOP and Nasty Gal also sell some pretty amazing POP culture patches on their sites- they are a bit more pricey but totally worth it to get the perfect patch (around $14 for 3 or 4 patches).

Stylist’s DIY TIP: If you are going to DIY a piece with some patches, I suggest you lay out all of your patches and pin them before you start sewing. This makes it easy to move them around until you find a combination you like. Make sure to place a few on the back as well- it will give you that true designer touch. Keep in mind that some patches say they are iron on but I never trust that they will hold so I always stitch them on- you can do this by hand or by machine.

Centurions and Mimosa’s

Last weekend I attended a FABULOUS VIP Blogger crawl at The Forum Shops at Caesars!

Myself and 14 of Las Vegas’ top Influencers began our Saturday morning with mimosa’s and a centurion.

Not a bad way to start the day, right?!

Next we traveled to Sephora to discover some of the hottest beauty trends and new products.

After learning the in’s and out’s of Spring beauty it was time to move on to fashion. At Tory Burch we got a hands on look at the Spring 2018 Collection.

The Collection is centered around two “oh-so-Tory” themes: color and pattern.

Inspired by interior decorator David Hicks who pioneered the eclectic approach to decorating, Tory Burch’s spring line celebrates mixing patterns, bold colors, the old and the new and at it’s center the gorgeous painted Iris.

Beauty, Fashion and the last stop fitness.

We wrapped up our morning at Lululemon where we got the 411 on fitness fashion.

This season is all about athleisure and workout pieces with intricate details- strappy backs, ruching and texture with a focus on fit. Functional pieces that will make you feel pretty while still getting your sweat on!

I learned an interesting detail on our tour. Do you every stare at mannequins and think “I wonder if that’s a real person’s body”? Well, at Lululemon all of the mannequins are made from casts of actual clients bodies. Real people that actually wear the clothing! So the next time you see a mannequin in Lululemon, you might just know him lol.

Camouflage The Print to Be Seen In

Military influences are always a huge trend for Spring but this season Camo Pants and Cargo Pants are completely taking over.

Alexander Wang showcased loose easy military-esc cargo pants paired with sparkly tops in his Spring Collection, slouchy camo cargo pants were everywhere over at Zadig & Voltaire and just about every fashion influencer on the planet is either currently rockin’ or getting ready to rock this trend.

At first I was a little hesitant to adopt this one but after a long journey- if you follow my stories on Instagram you know what I went through to get these pants just right- I fell in love.

Here’s why you’ll be seeing me rock this trend:

First, the pants are totally comfy. Imagine that, a leg with a little room, a nice fit in the waist and you can bend over without fear of splitting your trousers.

Second it’s fun and surprisingly versatile. You have to be creative when paring with camouflage to avoid looking like you’re headed to a paintball tournament.

Girly it out with soft silky fabrics, lace and heels or edge it up with leather, band tees and some leopard.

Whichever way you choose to style it GO ALL THE WAY. There’s no half-measures when it comes to Camouflage.
