Totally Unpinchable St. Patrick’s Day Style

St. Patrick's Day Style

Whether you’re a celebrate-every-holiday-to-the-max type of person or prefer to pretend holidays like Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day are just like any other day of the year, it’s fun to use these holidays as an excuse to wear something festive.

On March 17 get ready to step out your door into a virtual Emerald City, where donuts are topped with green icing and adorned with rainbows, drinks are mixed with green food coloring and suddenly- at least for the day- everyone is Irish.

Since childhood we have been groomed to wear GREEN on St. Patrick’s Day or else.. duh duh duh.. get pinched.

Unsolicited pinches were the stuff my childhood nightmares were made of.  Of course I always tried to sell the fact that my eyes were green so technically I was always wearing green but the ready-to-pinch grade-school boys never bought that which resulted in every St. Patrick’s Day becoming a day filled with as much childhood anxiety for me as “Friday Flip-up Day”.

Fast forward to adulting where, needless to say, come St. Patrick’s Day I don my best green’s and do my full Celtic redhead duty of wearing a totally unpinchable emsemble.

St. Patrick’s Day style doesn’t mean you have to gear up like a leprechaun, instead, why not opt for something a bit more, evergreen? Festive but subtle and totally unpinchable.

The key to wearing green for St. Patrick’s Day is to mix it with varying green hues to give your look depth.  Depth and texture always equal style.

There are so many chic pieces in varying shades of green this season—from olive sweaters and kelly green dresses to shamrock skirts, tartan jackets and emerald printed maxi dresses.  Use the full color range of vert hues to create a look using green that you could wear not just on St. Patrick’s Day but any day and then add a small understated piece that gives you “The Luck o’ the Irish“.  A lucky coin necklace, charm bracelet or (in my case) shamrock sneakers.

Your St. Patrick’s Day look will be so legit that when Chad from accounting heads towards you with his pinchy little paws he’ll take one look and have to walk away pinch defeated.  In your face Chad!

Spring 2020 Color Trend Lovely Lavender

Spring is in the air… at least that’s what my spidey fashion sense says.

We are less than a month away from the official start of Spring which means it’s time to tackle your taxes (lol) and get your Spring wardrobe together, of course one those is waaay more fun than the other.

I always like to dip my toes into a new season by starting with color.  The “it” silhouettes and particular styles will follow but you need to get a good grasp on the seasonal color palette.

The last few seasons the fashion world has been completely obsessed with neutrals and dark moody palettes but Spring 2020 is decidedly all about color.  Can I get an Amen!

As much as I love my all-black, model-off-duty edgy looks and all the plaid in the world, sometimes I just want to jump on that color train and ride it like I’m Lisa Frank.

One of Spring 2020’s hottest hues, Lavender, is fresh, feminine and subtly romantic, but unique enough to make you feel like a sartorial queen.

The beauty of lovely Lavender is that this delicate color feels more sophisticated than some of the pinks we’ve seen and the hue plays well with others. Try it with yellow, mint, baby blue, or sage green, or simply as a fresh pop with jeans and a neutral top.

I swear this shade will breathe new life into your wardrobe, a much needed wake-up from the dreary days of winter.

Spring Forecast Moody with a Chance of Fringe

Spring Forecast Moody with a Chance of Fringe

Spring 2020 Forecast?  Moody with a 100% chance of fringe.

Whether you view at it as western, 70s inspired or bohemian, fringe is here to invade our closets, our Instagram feeds and our lives for Spring 2020- and I have to say I’m not mad about it.

Fringe has fought it’s way out of festival territory and firmly planted roots on the Spring 2020 runways of major designers such as Gucci, Chloe, Jil Sander, Celine and Paco Rabanne who have made it clear that the SS20 mandate is ‘fringe, but make it look expensive.

It’s fringe with a capital F!

This season’s fringe is a little less cowgirl and whole lot more artesenal.

Look for pieces that make a statement: sequined fringe, seashell fringe, fringe made from recycled textiles or macrame fringe in everything from fringe bags to fringe jackets necklaces and dresses.

If fringe seems a bit out of your comfort zone try testing the waters with a fringe bag or fringe necklace before graduating to bigger pieces.
