Mad Hippie Rebels of Skincare

Did you know that what we put on our skin doesn’t just sit on the surface, it travels through an elaborate absorption process, directly into our bodies which is why it is SUPER important to use as clean of products as possible.

And it’s especially important to opt for clean ingredients in products that stay on your skin like serums, oils and moisturizers!

I have been slowly making a move to a more natural skincare regimen. Of course this isn’t going to happen with everything I use but I try to make sure that my key products, ones I use every single day, are as natural and clean as possible which is why I was so excited when I discovered Mad Hippie Skincare.

With a brand creed that reads “with a ‘buck the cosmetic establishment’ manifesto, a strong stance against animal cruelty, the belief that we are stewards of this planet and must treat our home and fellow beings with love and respect, and a unwavering belief in a brighter better tomorrow, Mad Hippie was born” who wouldn’t immediately buy this brand?!?

Not only are all Mad Hippie products cruelty free ALL of their products are also free from parabens, petrochemicals, animal ingredients, GMOs, phthalates, SLS, Synthetic Dye, perfume, PEGs and Silicone.

These rebels of skincare are so dedicated to their clean manifesto that they keep their ecological footprint as small as possible- they even use soy ink in their printing to reduce environmental impact, and donate $1 from very sale to The Wildlife Conservation Network.

Swoon!

This Portland-based skin care company is all about simplicity: all-natural, cruelty free, GMO free, and vegan (except for a small amount of beeswax in their SPF). They keep out all the bad but pack in as many good active ingredients into each product as possible, to ensure it’s not only something that won’t harm your skin, but also something that really works.

I joined their beauty revolution with three of their summer must-haves: Vitamin C Serum, Hydrating Nutrient Mist and Facial SPF.

Mad Hippie Skincare

Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum

As far as I am concerned, EVERYONE should be using a Vitamin C serum daily. This antioxidant will help protect and treat your skin from sun damage while also helping to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and discoloration.

Mad Hippie’s award winning blend contains Vitamin C PLUS Vitamin E, ferulic acid, hyaluronic acid, grapefruit, chamomile extract, clary sage and Konjac root powder (softens and smooths skin), into an UBER effective skin brightening and tightening formula. The texture is lightweight and absorbs super easily into skin without any stickiness or greasiness.  You will be amazing at how bright and glowing your skin looks!

Mad Hippie Skincare

Mad Hippie Hydrating Nutrient Mist

The Hydrating mist is super amazing too because you can use it on your whole body and not just your face, which is perfect for the dry air here in Vegas. Formulated with Hesperidin (a plant that has been shown to hep reduce the appearance of skin discoloration) Sodium PCA (a naturally occurring humecant which helps bind moisture to the skin) Ginkgo Bioba (powerful antioxidant) and Milk Thistle (calms redness and irritation) it hydrates, brightens and reduces irritation on the skin.  Spray it on a clean face in the morning or with a quick spritz over makeup in the afternoon for a quick pick-me-up.

Mad Hippie Skincare

Mad Hippie Facial SPF 30+

If you aren’t wearing a sunscreen on your face everyday we are gonna have to have words- and not good ones! Your skin needs to be protected every.. single.. day.  This sunscreen is zinc based- which is kind of the gold standard for natural SPF- and also includes a bunch of soothing ingredients like Red Raspberry Seed Oil ( provides natural antioxidants while soothing and moisturizing the skin.), Carrot Seed Oil (Soothing antioxidant oil perfect for sun lovers), Avocado Oil (forms a protective barrier over the skin while it naturally hydrates and soothes), Vitamin C + E + Ferulic Acid (same antioxidant powerhouse trio found in their vitamin C serum), Shea Butter (a rich source of the powerful antioxidants vitamin A & E, as well as crucial fatty acids), Jasmine Oil (shown to have an uplifting, energizing, aromatherapeutic effect, jasmine oil helps to balance moisture), Sodium Hyaluronate (the salt of hyaluronic acid (HA) has been shown to have better skin penetrating capabilities than HA alone. Works to moisturize the skin while reducing the appearance of wrinkles). It has an AMAZING light jasmine scent, goes on clear, feels super lightweight and leaves no greasy residue.

Nothing makes me happier than discovering a brand with great ethics and incredible products that deliver results every time! Check out Mad Hippie’s full product range at MadHippie.com

Matrix Biolage R.A.W

Matrix Biolage R.A.W.

I couldn’t be more excited about the direction that the beauty industry is headed. There has been a huge shift towards natural, organic and cruelty free products over the last few years.

These aren’t the natural products of yesteryear that deliver in a health-food store type of way these are products that provide even BETTER results than some of the top products on the market.  In fact they can sit side by side with them!

Matrix Biolage recently released an AMAZING collection that is totally R.A.W.–  Real, Authentic and Wholesome.

Matrix Biolage R.A.W.

The Matrix Biolage R.A.W. Collection is not only good for your hair but also for the environment. It’s a truly  exciting addition to the natural beauty market, with products made of 70% to 90% natural-origin ingredients that are 99% biodegradable, and 100% recycled plastic packaging!

The ingredients that make up the collection are not only of natural origin but are also all obtained in an eco-friendly way from sourcing all the way to formulation.

PLUS… NO CHEMICAL NASTIES!  The Matrix Biolage R.A.W. range is free of sulfates, parabens, silicones, and artificial colorants!

#LIVERAW

There are 3 collections in the line to choose from: Nourish (for dry, dull hair), Recover (for stressed, sensitized hair) and Uplift (for fine, flat hair). Each range utilizes a special blend of unique ingredients that target specific concerns and rejuvenate your tresses from root to tip!

Based on my hair-care needs, Influencer sent me the Nourish Collection to try.

Matrix Biolage R.A.W. Nourish Shampoo contains quinoa husk and honey to feed dry, dull hair for healthy-looking, softer locks.  Its kind of a runny shampoo so be careful when you pour it but it lathers up nicely and leaves hair super clean without drying it out.  It also has a yummy honey scent.

Matrix Biolage Nourish Conditioner utilizes coconut oil and kaolin clay, to feed dry, dull hair and intensely conditions for soft, shiny touchable strands.  My hair felt soft to the touch, wasn’t weighed down and blew out frizz free PLUS it smells AMAZING!  I’m obsessed with the scent of this conditioner.  A light subtle coconut that is perfect for summer!

With so many choices out there don’t you think it’s as important to buy products that work as it is to buy products that are good for you and the environment!

The Matrix Biolage R.A.W. Collection is available at Matrix Salons and Matrix.com

Eu'Genia Shea Butter: The  Company That Empowers Women Globally

Today I have an exciting guest post for you from a fantastic company run by a mother daughter duo: Eu’Genia Shea Butter.

In Greek, the words Eu-Genia (you-geh-knee-ah”) mean the origin of goodness and this family-run social enterprise dedicated to all natural premium shea butter moisturizers not only produces AMZING products but also is dedicated to fair wages and opportunities for thier female workers in Ghana and donates 15% of their profits back to them in the form of an education fund.  Most definitely a product “you can feel good about”.

Handing over the fantastic folks at Eu’Genia Shea Butter now…

There isn’t a beauty company out there that doesn’t want to make a profit, but there are few which ensure that social responsibility and family values also take precedence in their brand.  Eu’Genia Shea is one such company that imports Ghanaian shea butter to America. The barely three-year-old business is a collaborative effort between a close mother and daughter with a very unique shea. While most beauty companies use less than 25% shea when making their butters, Eu’Genia Shea is proud to reveal that their products contain at least 95% shea content.

Naa-Sakle Akuete, a Harvard Business School graduate and former Wall Street analyst launched Eu’Genia Shea, so that she and her mother living in Ghana, could keep their bond tight and create and share a business over a longtime family staple.

Shea butter is known for its spectacular beauty benefits for skin and hair, and Ms. Akuete’s midwife grandmother had used shea butter for years to help pregnant women with their stretch marks. Shea butter is an amazing skin care product, as it possesses essential fatty acids, Vitamins A, E and F and a natural sunscreen of about SPF6. It’s a nourishing, creamy butter that is perfect from head to toe. It is non-occlusive and safe for blemished complexions. In essence, shea butter is a magical cream when produced properly.

Ms. Akuete and her mother were excited about the business launch, but challenges arose when it came to shea farmers and how to coordinate the Ghana to U.S. import, the packaging of the Eu’genia brand, finding suppliers who spoke English and so forth.

The Akuete family believes in giving back to their community and providing opportunities for others. Soon, Ms. Akuete established a wonderful plan that centered around a co-op of female pickers in northern Ghana. The women workers were provided sustainable wages and training. In addition, Eu’Genia Shea also founded an Education Fund. A portion of the profits from the company’s shea butter products go to scholarships and funds that help Eu’genia Shea women workers acquire an education.

Shea butter grows from the African nut tree and has been used for thousands of years to moisturize and nourish the skin in numerous ways. The shea butter that Eu’Genia Shea sells is one of the finest on the planet, coming from the very old family recipe that has been passed down from generation to generation through the Akuete family.

Eu’Genia Shea sells the line via e-commerce at www.eugeniashea.com. These luxurious butters are available in three strengths; Everyday Shea Butter, Pregnancy Strength Shea Butter and Dermatological Strength Shea Butter. These rich creams come packed in pretty colored tins, in sizes perfect for gift-giving, collecting and for convenient traveling.

Best of all, shea butter is so easy to use:
“Scoop out a small portion of Shea Butter and rub in your hands until the Shea is melted. Apply as needed.”

That’s it; just apply the luxurious butter, and watch your skin come alive.
