What to Wear for Easter

What to Wear for Easter

It never fails, each year I always struggle with ideas of what to wear for Easter and Spring in general.

I am a Fall/Winter type of dresser and I naturally gravitate toward dark and vibrant colors so when “pastel season” comes around I’m always at a loss.

Luckily Spring 2021 has brought a whole new moody type of Spring palette in the form of watercolor prints. It’s a walk on the softer side (like pastels) but with an emo-esc fashion twist.

Think of the watercolor trend as the chic grown-up relative of tie-dye, but with the added effect of blotchy, almost diluted-like edges. While some designers’ takes on watercolor feature more uniform patterns like Dries Van Noten, others like Acne Studios and Kenzo used them in a dip-dye effect to create random delicate patterns.

Influenced by the work of master painters, watercolor prints bring a mood of romantic expressiveness to womenswear.  You will see watercolor prints in both all-over patterns and in oversized placements against white and off-white bases which give a fresh “clothing as canvas” effect.

Soft, dreamy and totally perfect for Easter dressing it’s a great way to get that Spring vibe without sacrificing your “I hate pastels” mantra.

Chocolate eggs? Done! Easter Baskets? Assembled. What to wear for Easter? An easy no-brainer with soft watercolor prints!

So Thirsty: Aperol Spritz Inspired Outfit

Aperol Spritz Inspired Outfit

For some crazy reason I have been craving an Aperol Spritz in a bad way.  Like not just craving but obsessing about sipping one.

I wake up thinking about it, I spend the day fantasizing about it and at night my dreams are filled with Aperol Spritz fantasies. I have no idea where this sudden hankering came from- I’m usually more of a tequila based drink kind of gal- but it’s here and it won’t let up.

I’m so thirsty that my outfits are even starting to resemble and Aperol Spritz.

If you haven’t tried one before, I highly recommend you give it a sip.  The orange-red cocktail is reminiscent of an Italian soda and combines just three ingredients: Aperol, Prosecco and soda water.

As pretty to drink as it is to look at, an Aperol Spritz is pleasantly citrusy, perfectly bubbly, slightly bitter and the orangey hue is an instant mood booster. You need absolutely NO bar skills to make a spritz.  It’s so easy!

Aperol Spritz

  • 2 oz Prosecco – Can’t find any? Don’t like Prosecco? Use Champagne or Cremant de Loire instead for a dry taste, or Moscato d-Asti if you want a sweeter flavor.
  • 2 oz Aperol – The namesake of the recipe!
  • A Splash of Soda – Soda water or sparkling water. Feel free to use flavored sparkling water, ideally citrus, for some extra flavor.
  • Orange – Freshly sliced for garnish. I like blood oranges because of their deep rich beautiful color.

Fill a wine glass with ice. Add the Prosecco first, then Aperol, and finally soda. Stir gently and garnish with a fresh orange wheel.

We finally made our weekly grocery trip and I scored a bottle of Aperol!  Whoo Hoo!  I’ll be mixing these babies up on Easter morning for a two person boozy brunch with my hubby and I’ll be wearing this Aperol Spritz inspired outfit.

Cheers!
