Ghost Ranch Rancher Chic Trend

Rancher Chic Trend

What do Céline, Marc Jacobs, and Coach have in common? The brands all looked to the Southwest for inspiration for Spring 19.

Céline and Marc Jacobs each offered up whimsical cattle rancher style boots and at Coach Stuart Vevers created an entire collection inspired by Santa Fe’s Ghost Ranch with southwestern signatures like suede jackets and fringe.

Considering these top brands all evoked a similar regional spirit, it isn’t surprising that these Spring trends have already hit the streets for a pre-showing with the fashion crowd for Winter 2019.

A couple of weeks ago I attended my friend Candace’s baby shower to welcome her sweet little baby Stone.  Now this wasn’t your typical baby shower it was an uber hip, gourmet food, super chic babes in a breathtaking mid-century modern house with custom mixed cocktails kind of baby shower.   These ladies were the definition of “cool kids”.

As I sat there munching on what I have to say was the BEST salad/slaw I have ever eaten (I even got the recipe for you- it’s at the end of this post- yeah it was THAT good) I looked around and noticed a continuing fashion theme- Rancher Chic.

Rancher Chic is kind of the natural winter evolution of the Boho-Western-Americana trend from Fall 2018 and it’s the perfect way to re-work pieces you already invested in.

Think shearling lined denim jackets, vintage cowichan sweaters, hefty cowboy boots, sweeping hemlines, embroidered and paneled shirts, high-rise denim, plaids, and prairie-inspired silhouettes that look as though they belong to the backdrop of a Georgia O’Keeffe painting.

Really all you need to do is add some key Southwestern inspired pieces on top of those western inspired looks you already created for fall.  Top a prairie dress with a cowichan sweater or layer in a shearling jacket and rancher hat to that high waited jeans, cowboy boots and vintage tee look you have been rockin’.

Just let the look “evolve” into winter then when Spring hits just shed a few layers and you are ahead of the trend!
