5 Spring Trends One Look

What does olive green, high-low hems, long necklaces, embellished accessories and statement sleeves all have in common?

They are all trending for Spring 2017.

If you follow just about any Blogger or Influencer on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or Snapchat you have probably seen a few previews of these trends already and if you’ve hit the mall recently you’ve spotted some glimmers of them popping up in stores.

I can’t believe I’m saying this but I’m kinda over my winter wardrobe.  The weather is getting warmer, the sun is coming out, the days are getting longer and it’s time to mix things up.

Even though Spring doesn’t officially being for another month, I can’t wait one second more.   I’m Springing Forward and so is my wardrobe with 5 Spring Trends you can wear now and all the way through summer.

Military and Utilitarian influences are always winners for Spring.  This season Olive, Kale and Army Greens emerge from their military roots and take center stage as the new neutrals.  Pair them with brighter shades or let them play the hero when partnered with other neutrals like beige, white and cream.

Who hems anything anymore?  Seriously.  Distressed hems have been en vogue for the last couple seasons but now say “high-low” to the high-low distressed hem.

Easy as snip snip snip to DIY.  Take any skinny jean and cut the front just a tad bit shorter than the back then pull out some threads to create fray. This trend elongates the leg, and really gives a slimming appearance. Pair with booties, or a fun heel to complete the look.

The past few seasons have been dominated by the choker but FINALLY for Spring 2017 the Long Necklace makes a comeback.  Don’t retire that choker just yet though- try layering it in with longer pieces and go for a graduated effect.

Layer delicate shorter necklaces with slightly chunkier, longer necklaces and pair larger-than-life necklaces with dainty chains.

Embellishment is the buzz word when it comes to shoes and bags this season.  Bobbles, studs, hardware, embroidery and fringe…bring it on!  I am OBSESSED with this gorgeous so on-trend bag and sandals I picked up at the Donald J Pliner event at The Forum Shops last week!  These babies came to play this season! Get ready to see them on repeat!

Statement Sleeves emerged as a fashion favorite last year, and they are hitting their stride in 2017. Think big, billowy sleeves. Think ornate sleeves. Think pretty sleeves, ruffled sleeves and tie sleeves . Sleeves are EVERYTHING this season.

What I’m Wearing: Ann Taylor Tie Sleeve Top | Joe’s Jeans Cropped Cuff Jean (which I cut into a high-low hem) | Donald J Pliner Omara Sandal | Donald J Pliner Pandora Embellished Clutch | Giant Vintage Doe Vintage Sunnies | The Giving Keys Matte Black Necklace | Vintage Jet Beads |

  1. Awesome. First of all – you look like a boss, the olive matches your beautiful hair perfectly.

Second, I’m not a big fan of distressing jeans, but hey, might as well do it properly – don’t just use scissors, grab sandpaper and wear it out, add some bleach to the distressed holes’ edges.

  2. I love that olive is a spring trend! I love the color and it looks nice with my complexion! I’m excited for spring shoes wedges and all that! Thanks for sharing the insight in spring!
