Color Crush Fiesta Red

Fiesta Red

There is just something oh-so-summery and perfectly spicy about Fiesta Red.  It’s a true, summery red with warmer orange undertones and a lot of fire.

Fiesta Red makes me feel muy caliente.

Cue that oh so annoying yet catchy and appropriate song…..Havana-na-na-na……

Pretty much every season we get a version of red in the “it” color palette.  We have had Berry Red, Jester Red, Tigerlily, Valiant Poppy and this season has delivered us Fiesta Red.

Designers incorporated the picante shade in just about every way imaginable.  At Gucci there were pops of fiery shade throughout the collection in everything from an oversized sleeve kimono inspired jacket to leather zip up undies and classic trench coats layered with peppery hued tights. Valentino showcased the hue in Little Red Riding hood-esc cape dresses and at Elie Saab an awe-inspiring one shoulder sleek, classic, goddess gown brought the perfect amount of heat to the runway.

The reason I have a serious color crush on this orangey red shade is that it looks great on EVERYONE and there are roughly a gazillion different ways to wear it.

You can go head-to-toe with this hot shade or try some easy pairings to pepper in the shade: Fiesta Red and Teal Blue delivers a cool southwest vibe, when paired with Cactus Green it hits on those so-on-trend western notes, Fiesta Red + Pink brings a sunset inspired palette or with Cobalt Blue for some tropical vibes. You can even incorporate it as an accent shade to pop in some color to a monochrome look with a bag or shoe.

Beige Doesn’t Have to Be Boring: The Beige Neutral Trend

Beige Neutral trend

Fashion’s must-have shade of the moment might come as a bit of a surprise and on the surface seem underwhelming: beige.

This Summer the beige neutral trend is set to be big.  Just take a look around at your favorite boutiques- you will find them fully stocked in all things beige. This isn’t your run of the mill bland beige though, these shades encompass rich and luxurious hues from toffee to vanilla! Summer 2019’s neutral trend oozes effortless chic.

I have to admit that up until recently I have stayed away from these Barbie skin-esc neutrals pretty much because of the fact that my vampire-like skin tone tends to make me look like I am completely naked in them. They wash me out and leave me looking well, less than fabulous- but I do appreciate the fresh sophisticated look of neutrals so I have developed a little trick for how to wear them and get that crisp clean beigey vibe without feeling washed out or naked!

Beige doesn’t have to be boring and the best way to achieve a luxe neutral look is to style it with a variety of neutral shades, add some texture and a dash (ok in my case a big old heap) of patterns.

It’s totally okay to pair white with beige, beige with dusty rose and cream with caramel- in fact this season it’s encouraged! This slight shade mixing will help break your outfit up and keep it fashion forward.

Use contrast fabric textures and different patterns to give your outfit a little more depth. A good leopard print is a year-round staple and the PERFECT way to add a pattern to a neutral look because it comes with a beautiful built-in range of caramel, beige and brown tones.

For texture look to knits, crafty crochet items and gauzy pieces.   Gauze fabrics are fun, flowy and huge this season- perfect for layering in the summer heat.

The beige neutral trend palette is actually way more visually interesting than you might have initially thought, remember tonal and textural dressing is the key to success when trying to create this look.

Stylist Tip:  Don’t forget to enlist my summer trick!  Layer your handbags with a string bag to add texture and give them a fresh summer vibe.

There is something both incredibly earthy and soothing about the Spring 2019 Color Palette.

It’s hard to deny the appeal of natural colors in recent months, thanks to a flood of designers who refreshed them, revamped them and served them up in elegantly flowy silhouettes.

I’ve never really been drawn to neutral muted tones before but for some reason I just can’t get enough of them this season!

Shades of taupe, beige, white, sand, camel, terracotta, tabacco and dusty pink are keeping us down to earth.

The earthy color trend is really about more than just clothes though, isn’t it?! It’s a feeling and a mood. It says something about you without words.

A free-flowing cream dress or rustic floral blouse suggests something about your lifestyle—that you eat organic greens, you make your own flower arrangements, you take care of your skin and hit the Farmer’s Market at least once a month or (if you have been watching my insta stories) maybe you make vegan veggie cakes on the weekends.

It’s about the overall warmth and well-being vibe you are putting out.

We know colors effect us, come on, how many thousands of studies have there been on the topic- so it makes sense that in an era where we could all use a little calm and relaxation we are drawn to these zen filled shades.

Earth tones aren’t all about beige and tan though- earth tones also include ocean hues.  Seafoam Green, Ultramarine, Seaweed shades and Clearwater Blue.

Just as the key to making the taupe-y shades look dynamic is by layering various textures and hues, it’s the same with the water element shades.

Combine them together to create visual interest.  Pair a seaweed hued top with a seafoam green skirt, layer patterns and textures then mix in some other earthy elements that compliment- a little surf and sand.

Let them flow like water by choosing them in billowy flowy silhouettes that move with you.

The second you slip into these aqua-earth tones I swear, your shoulders relax a little, you slowly exhale and breath in an imaginary whiff of salt air.

Dreamy, soothing and totally summer chic.
