Spring Trend Alert Tulle Skirts

Spring Trend Alert Tulle Skirts

Tulle, the ultra feminine, dreamy, whimsical fabric that is a mainstay for ballerinas and brides is sitting front row in the Spring 2020 trends.

This fabric du jour is the dream foundation for ruffles, frills, flounces and maximum twirl-ability.

The great thing about tulle is it’s versatility. You can give tulle an edge by pairing with a band tee, converse or Dr. Martens boots.  Make it ultra girly by wearing with a tonal look of head to toe blush, beige or white or take it into the evening by paring with a chic, sheer blouse and heels.

Want to give tulle a try? The first thing is to choose the silhouette you want. You can either go ultra puffy or not as puffy, tiered or layered – the volume of the skirt depend on how many layers of tulle it has.

Next choose your length- midi, maxi or skater skirt style- it all depends on with what you want to pair it with and your body type. I prefer the layered not as puffy midi styles on myself but it’s really about how you are going to rock it and what fits into your personal style.

Try the trend but keep it authentic, after-all you don’t want anyone to think you suddenly joined a ballet company or recently got into Frozen cosplay.

As the temps slowly start to rise and the sun finally comes out for Spring it’s the perfect time to experiment a little with this oh so princess-esc fabric and give it your own spin.

Spring Forecast Moody with a Chance of Fringe

Spring Forecast Moody with a Chance of Fringe

Spring 2020 Forecast?  Moody with a 100% chance of fringe.

Whether you view at it as western, 70s inspired or bohemian, fringe is here to invade our closets, our Instagram feeds and our lives for Spring 2020- and I have to say I’m not mad about it.

Fringe has fought it’s way out of festival territory and firmly planted roots on the Spring 2020 runways of major designers such as Gucci, Chloe, Jil Sander, Celine and Paco Rabanne who have made it clear that the SS20 mandate is ‘fringe, but make it look expensive.

It’s fringe with a capital F!

This season’s fringe is a little less cowgirl and whole lot more artesenal.

Look for pieces that make a statement: sequined fringe, seashell fringe, fringe made from recycled textiles or macrame fringe in everything from fringe bags to fringe jackets necklaces and dresses.

If fringe seems a bit out of your comfort zone try testing the waters with a fringe bag or fringe necklace before graduating to bigger pieces.
