Platform Sandals aka Flatform Sandals have been popping up everywhere!
From the Spring/Summer Fashion runways of designers such as MARNI, Prada, Marc Jacobs, Celine and MSGM straight to retailers both high and low. But what’s the deal with these Birkenstock-inspired meets Geisha Glam raised sandals?
Flatforms have the height of a platform but the functionality of a flat making them an edgy and deliberate fashion statement that isn’t for the fashion-faint-of-heart. If my 80s punk creepers were a sandal they would be a Flatform.
Designers combined substantial rubber soles with thick leather straps in neons, patent leather, prints and the star of the show this season: metallics. They look great with “fancy pants” or paired with wide legged cropped pants, bermuda shorts with breezy tunics and even boyfriend jeans. If you are feeling runway inspired try wearing them with socks- yes it is actually on-trend to wear socks with your sandals this season! Who would have thought!
The Flatform is a sandal that takes some getting used to, it may not be the prettiest girl in the room but it is the most comfortable.

They kind of remind me if shoes I wore in the 90’s. In fact pretty sure I had a few pairs of those seen in the pics. I like them.
