OOTD: Band Tees

There is nothing more easy and laid back than the perfect worn in band tee.

Sometimes you can purchase one straight off the rack with the optimal degree of aging (like the one I am wearing) but other times you find one that fits your style but doesn’t have that worn-in softness that is key to pulling off the look. Who wants a brand new crisp band tee?  No one.

Stylists have a secret trick to achieving that “over-the-decades” softness in just a few days and its super easy!  Combine 1 quart water and 1/2 cup salt in a bucket.  Submerge your t-shirt in it and let it soak for 3-4 days then machine wash as normal.  Instant Super Duper softness!

The foundation of this look is the bad-ass TOPSHOP Iron Maiden tee and my go-to MADEWELL boyfriend jeans- I can’t get enough of boyfriend jeans this season because they are soooo comfy!

When you wear a band tee + boyfriend jeans it can be really easy to look as if you just walked off the set of Wayne’s World- not so party time excellent.  So, to avoid being too literal I polished up the look with a lightweight blazer, 1970’s vintage sunglasses I scored from GiantVintage.com and my favorite necklace from ROCKSBOX.

Footwear is always important to creating the right vibe.

I wanted my look to be polished yet cool fun and comfy so I finished it with these “I-had-to-have-them-as-soon-as-I-saw-them” Stan Smith crackle effect Adidas.

Stan Smith Adidas have rapidly made their way (over the past 2-3 years) into the closets and onto the feet of just about every fashionista EVERYWHERE from streetstyle superstars to the runway’s hottest models making them the ‘it” off-duty shoe and they look good with just about everything from jeans to trousers- even skirts and dresses!

What do you think?  Will you rock a band tee this season?  What about some Stan Smith’s?
