Coach PRIDE Collection 2021

Luxury Fashion House Coach celebrates PRIDE month with it’s annual PRIDE Capsule Collection, “Pride Is Where You Find It”.

“Pride Is Where You Find It” is a campaign that celebrates the LGBTQ+ community. It advocates that every person should be seen as who they truly are regardless of sexual orientation, race or identity. It is a celebration of optimism, inclusivity, self-expression and authentic self-expression.

Each year during the month of June the world flies their rainbow flags, douses themselves in glitter and celebrates PRIDE month.

Rooted in the fight for equal rights and to commemorate the Stonewall Riots, PRIDE month is not only a time for celebration but also an opportunity to raise political awareness of current issues facing the community.

This year marks the 52th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. The riots were a series of demonstrations carried out by a group of drag queens in 1969 in response to the police raid of the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village, New York.

It was this that led Brenda Howard, the “mother of pride”, to organize the first LGBT Pride march.  Today festivals, concerts and parades take place all around the world.

I couldn’t wait to get a peek at this year’s collection so I headed down to the Coach Boutique at Grand Canal Shops inside the Venetian Resort Las Vegas just as the boxes were being unloaded off the truck.

Although the full collection doesn’t launch until May 26th the boutique gave me a first look at some of the colorful key pieces and I’m sharing that first look with YOU!

For this year’s capsule collection, COACH gave their signature C-logo a rainbow overhaul on everything from sneakers to slides, belt bags, totes and tees.

The iconic PRIDE rainbow flag integrates seamlessly into classic COACH designs which allows ally’s to rock these pieces, show their support for the LGBTQ+ community and make a chic statement all year long.

The Big Flower Fight

The Big Flower Fight Dresses

This past week I escaped into my tv with The Big Flower Fight on NETFLIX.

More than a reality competition show it’s a total much needed mood enhancer.

This new reality competition is similar to The Great British Baking Show, but instead of baked goods, it’s about flowers.

There is something so feel-good and joyful about this show.  Not only does it host the most diverse collection of competitors EVER (from all over the world), it also feeds your soul.

The competition takes place in a gigantic dome in the English countryside equipped with gardening and floristry tools and all types of gorgeous flora and fauna.  It is a beautiful, vibrant, safe space where imaginations can run wild, away from the madness of the real world.

The show is hosted by British comedian Vic Reeves and Natasia Demetriou from What We Do In The Shadows.

So, why am I writing about The Big Flower Fight here?

Well, episode after episode not only did I “WOW” over the flower creations I also drooled over Natasia’s wardrobe. Each segment she doned a fabulous floral frock which looked like something that would be perfectly at home in my dream closet and more often than not each gown was paired with combat boots- a total Christie heck’s yes.

I spied a literal bouquet of my favorite designers from Agua by Agua Bendita to Vampires Wife, BATSHEVA and Needle & Thread.  Which brings me to this week’s outfit of the day.  This gorgeous Needle & Thread dress I bought for my clients wedding- which was cancelled because… pandemic- so I was never able to wear it.

After binging The Big Flower Fight I was finally inspired to wear this stunning piece. Of course, it had to be debuted in the setting of a nature preserve.

If you haven’t watched it yet and you need a little feel-good mood boost, tune in to The Big Flower Fight on NETFLIX and marvel at the insane floral and plant sculptures they dream up and create with their hands in less than a day!

John Hardy- Gifts for Good

John Hardy is one of the hottest, most talked about fashion jewelry designers today…and not just because he creates beautiful pieces. But also, the background of his company is really one-of-a-kind.

Sustainable, environmentally friendly (they use 100% reclaimed silver) and one of the most heart-felt truly caring companies around John Hardy’s inspiration comes from one of the most beautiful, serene places in the world- Bali. His love of the Balinese people and community has been the basis of the jewelry empire. Not only does the company consistently look to innovate with designs, they are also always thinking of ways to give back to the community. By creating programs like Jobs For Life and “Wear bamboo, plant bamboo,” John Hardy has established itsself as one of the most humanitarian companies around.

They have a totally innovative program called “Jobs For Life”. Through this program, they collaborates with local orphanages to create employment opportunities for children, especially girls. John Hardy pays for students’ school fees from the last two years of high school and provides them with an apprenticeship at the John Hardy Bali compound. They work to develop good health care benefits for employs and allows a rare opportunity for women to work from home. The goal of this program is to support severely disadvantaged Balinese children whose families did not have the means to feed, house or support them through school with the hope that they will truly find a “job for life” at John Hardy.

All that PLUS the jewelry is absolutely exquisite- all hand made in Bali makes John Hardy a gift that is truly from the heart this season.

Coach Gifts- that are Chic

OK you all know of my renewed love for Coach, each season it just keeps getting better and better.

For the Holidays Coach has released the Horse and Carriage Collection. Nostalgic and new—the beloved Coach motif just became a pattern… and it’s Ah-mazing.

The signature Horse & Carriage motif was first introduced in the 1950s and the new bags reimagine it in the form of cool, colorful patterns.

Coach F/W 19 Trunk Show

Coach just seems to keep getting better and better.  Season after season Stuart Vevers somehow continues to WOW me, and the Coach FW19 Collection has me weak in the knees.

The Fall 2019 collection was inspired by a road trip Vevers took up California’s scenic Route 1 that had him stopping at Nepenthe, the famous Big Sur restaurant that opened in 1949 and is still a must for sweeping views, Ambrosia burgers and shopping for tie-dyes and wind chimes.

For the FW19 Collection Vevers enlisted artist Kaffe Fassett, whose family has owned and operated Nepenthe since the start. He splashed Fassett’s Sixties-era  florals prints on top of black backgrounds throughout the collection which resulted in a gorgeous muted color palette with a punch of  rock n’ roll and punk grit.

The prairie-vibe Coach has become famous for is still in there, of course, in the form of pointed-toe boots, bolero-tie details on button-up dresses, in patchwork quilt prints and deep-hued florals.

It is somehow so totally COACH yet so totally fresh and new! It’s a darker kind of romance, jewel-toned brocades, dark navy plaids, shearling, suede and cozy Fair Isle Sweaters.

Last week I was FINALLY able to get my hands on this gorgeous collection at the Coach FW19 Trunk Show at the Coach Boutique in the Forum Shops at Caesars.

The collection has a wonderful aura of unisex style— from wallet chain details to creeper-esc  boots and bolero-tie details.

I am head-over-heels with this mash-up of prairie meets rock-a-billy style Vevers has crafted for the season.

Think 1950’s British Teddy Boys meets Little House on the Prairie- and it’s so totally perfect!

After viewing the collection- and doing some shopping (which you will see in an upcoming OOTD) we were treated to the most delicious lunch at the brand new Water Grill in the Forum Shops.

How totally chic is this place setting!

The food was absolutely incredible!

We began with a Shellfish Platter that was seriously a work of art paired with fresh horseradish, cocktail sauce , mignonette and habanero-lime sauce.

The next course was a tasty mixed organic greens salad topped with shaved yellow beets..

..and then it happened.

THE MOST INCREDIBLE THING I THINK I HAVE EVER EATEN. Wild Ross Sea Chilean Sea Bass with Butternut Squash Gnocchi and Sage Brown Butter.

I cannot even explain how fantastic this was except to tell you that there was a collective OMG sigh and everyone’s eyes rolled back in their heads when the first bite of it hit their mouths.  If you are in Vegas you NEED to go now to Water Grill and order this dish.  Go NOW!

After we all regained our composure we finished off a wonderful afternoon of fashion and food with a chef’s selection of tasty desserts.

View the Coach FW19 Collection for yourself at Coach Forum Shops and stop in for a bite afterwards at Water Grill.

Disney x Coach A Dark Fairy Tale

Disney x Coach A Dark Fairy Tale

Get ready Disney Fans, today, two American visionaries join forces for Disney x Coach A Dark Fairy Tale.

The special-edition collection, featuring womens and mens bags, shoes and ready-to-wear, merges classic Disney Princess tales with a dark and romantic twist on Coach ready-to-wear and leather goods. Found and styled within the brand’s Pre-Fall 2018 collection, the pieces play with spooky undertones and the tension of nostalgic Disney animations to create a halo collection for the season inspired by an American gothic fairy tale of New York.

This collaboration gives classic motifs from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Sleeping Beauty a dark edgy twist. Think dark and dreamy castles, poisoned apples and wide-eyed woodland creatures. Retro t-shirts with rock-and-roll fonts and a nostalgic color palette are styled with tough moto jackets and authentic Coach American sportswear – jersey hoodies, sneakers and fanny packs are emblazoned with Disney inspired patches and embellishments.

The special-edition collection will celebrate Coach and Disney’s third collaboration, an on-going relationship which is both personal and a continuing inspiration to Coach Creative Director, Stuart Vevers. Vevers stated, “I have always loved Disney – both the movies and the fantasy worlds created that have captured my imagination for many decades. It was fun to explore the darker side of these stories and mix Disney’s nostalgic charm with Coach’s creativity to bring my memories from these fairy tales to life within our world of accessories and ready-to-wear. The Disney spirit truly reinforces the new youthful perspective we are bringing to luxury at Coach.”

Mixing the irreverent with the iconic, Disney x Coach: A Dark Fairy Tale will launch globally on May 14 in Coach stores and on coach.com.

Here is a peek at some of my favorites from the collection.
